About Chapel of Grace, OAUTH.

Chapel of Grace is located in the premises of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals’ Complex (OAUTHC), Ile Ife. It started over 33 years ago, when all Christian groups within the OAUTHC came together to have a place of worship within the establishment.

The management of the hospital then allocated the land and contributions were made available by members of the Christian Community to build a befitting structure within the Engineering Department of the hospital.

As at that time, a sum of #5 was contributed by individuals in support of the work. Few Christians were ready to leave their churches to hold services. Some people opt to come on alternate Sundays. Gradually, some patients, patient’s relatives, students and members of staff were in attendance.

At the onset, there were leaders in various capacities coordinating the activities of the Church until the Holy Spirit led the Church to ordain Pastors, Deacons and Deaconesses in March 1995. Services continued until the hospital management asked the church to move out of Engineering Unit due to security threat to their equipment and other facilities.

Another parcel of land was re-allocated at the Phase two area of the hospital, with little financial backing/support. To the glory of God members rose to the challenge and continued to donate and paying their tithes. With a fund-raising ceremony the new building of the church commenced and continue to develop till date. On 12th of March, 1992, ordination ceremonies held to choose more ministers to oversee the smooth running of the Church namely: Pastor in charge/ Senior Pastor, Pastors, Deacons and Deaconesses.

At the 25th anniversary of the Church, other ministers were also ordained to join the existing Pastoral Board, totaling 5 Pastors, 6 Deacons and 4 Deaconesses. The Church has a Church Council. It has group leaders in each Unit or sub-group where members can exercise and use their talents and gifts for the edification of the Body. To the glory of God, the Church has a Guest House and a Creche. There is a 30-seater bus to convey students to and fro their hostels. The Church is a registered organization able to conduct marriages. It has a baptistry.

The Church also has outstations in villages near Ile Ife, namely: Yekemi and Aba Oyinbo through medical mission outreaches conducted by the church in these villages. The Church in Yekemi has developed to a full fledge church where weekly services are held regularly. May the Church continue to grow and fulfil God's purpose and the gates of Hell shall not prevail.
